Hello! My name is Elizabeth Avery, and I am a Chicago-based arts marketer. As an active performer with backgrounds in theatre, music, and film, I use my experiences from on and off the stage to market events in a way that speaks to both audiences and artists alike.
For me, arts marketing isn't about selling a product. It's about promoting great art that makes the world a bit brighter and creates community by connecting audiences and artists.
I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in Theatre and minors in Film/Digital Media and Musical Theatre. During college, I worked for two years managing the theatre program's internal communications and public social media accounts as the Theatre Marketing and Communications Associate, until I was promoted to Coordinator. During my tenure, our social media accounts saw exponential growth, particularly from my marketing campaigns for productions with video content such as interviews and production trailers.
Shortly after graduation, I accepted my current position of Marketing Coordinator at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. Our office promotes around 400 concerts per year, from student recitals to guest performances by world-renowned musicians like Third Coast Percussion, Sondra Radvanovsky, and Leif Ove Andsnes. Some of my responsibilities include designing print and digital materials, crafting email communications, maintaining websites, drafting press releases, and managing a team of student-workers.
As a freelance marketer, I manage social media accounts, create video content, and graphic design for clients such as theatre companies, comedians, and bands.
